Designing good, as in ergonomic, intuitive, but not too verbose set of command line arguments/ options is hard. Geek life is hard!

Today’s achievement: I created a Woodpecker CI plugin, with nix pre-conifigured and attic (the client of the self-hosted nix binary cache) pre-installed. It’s using its own image to build itself. The image is built using nix. It is available at https://git.vdx.hu/voidcontext/woodpecker-plugin-nix-attic.

Another milestone on my self hosting journey: last week I installed WoodpeckerCI to complement my Forgejo intance (a gitea fork). And this week I automatically published my first rust crates to https://crates.io from this CI pipeline.

These past few weeks were very productive.

Yesterday I moved all my private repos from #GitHub into my own https://forgejo.org/ instance. I took another piece of my online data back.

This is an interesting cycle: back in 2006ish when I rented my first VPS, I hosted my own git server, then I moved everything to GitHub when they introduced free private repos. 16 - 17 years later here I am again, self hosting.
